1. It is perfectly acceptable in EU countries for TEFL recruiters to advertise for “native speaker(s) only”.
2. TEFL teacher recruiters (also known as teacher placement agencies – TPAs) will always try to hire the cheapest TEFL teachers.
3. TPAs always send TEFL teachers to the bad schools first before sending teachers to the good schools.
4. As soon as the TPA has found you a post, you are on your own.
5. TPAs charge TEFL teachers (exorbitant) fees for finding them TEFL posts.
6. You should never use a TPA because it’s always easier or better to contact the school instead.
7. You need a degree to find a TEFL job.
8. If you can speak English, it’s a given that you can teach English.
9. Face-to-face TEFL courses are better than online TEFL courses.
10. TEFL isn’t a career.
